Karen Tries to Hijack Disabled Passenger’s Wheelchair, Kevin Demands a Lap Ride for His Tantrum-Throwing Kid, Chaos Ensues at the Airport

For most people, negotiating an airport is enough of a pain – but one woman on crutches managed to come upon an actual freakin’ circus of jerks whilst traveling. With a broken ankle and a bright purple cast, however, her odyssey devolved into a rolling circus of Karens and Kevins.

Then one Karen tried to take her wheelchair, claiming she was “tired” and that she needed it more. At the time, her 4-year-old was throwing a tantrum, and when that deteriorated into nothing, Kevin told her it was rude not to let end him lap. But wait sadly, a different Karen the boarding gate melted down, demanding she board first on account of her “good money” and “connections.”

Still, the traveler remained unfazed and somewhat sassy turned sarcastic throughout the process of her stay, making for a tale as entertaining as it is enraging.

Entitlement at the Airport – A Breakdown

1. Karen’s Attempt to Steal a Wheelchair

Karen Karen — it takes real audacity to be Karen! Even with a cast and crutches evident she attempted to pull the traveller from her wheelchair insisting that she needed it more because she was ‘tired’ What’s upsetting about this level entitlement is unfortunately part of a larger pattern: some people aren’t able to empathize with those who have visible disabilities.

2. Kevin and His “Crotch Mongrel”

Kevin’s unreasonable insistence that a passenger with a disability give his child a life lesson in car riding is a prime example of teaching kids entitlement. When children disrespect boundaries, it puts others in an awkward position and sends the message to the child that the world revolves around them.

3. Boarding Karen’s Meltdown

The final Karen insisting that she needs to board first because she paid “good money” is a textbook example of the entitlement seen in so many public spaces. The capper to her toddler meltdown and the gate agent’s career-defining mic drop — suggesting she couldn’t even get her dad’s name right — made for a great pre-flight mess.

Later, the woman replied to several comments and provided even more details about her experience

This trip of hers was an introduction to an intense lesson on controlling your entitled vibe. Her calm, smart-ass demeanor and sense of humor saved the day that could have scarred her for life. The saga of Karen and her wheelchairs and Kevin and his parenting fails is a reminder that smiting entitlement is sometimes best accomplished with a generous helping of sass.
