People Share The Petty Revenge They’ve Gotten After Someone Cheated On Them
If Taylor Swift has taught us anything, it’s that petty revenge is best served with a cat eye and red lipstick. Does petty revenge erase any hurt that may have been inflicted? No. But it can definitely help lessen the sting – at least, if you ask Redditors on r/pettyrevenge.
Between posting proof of cheating on social media, messing up someone’s coffee order, and putting DVDs in the wrong cases, the petty is strong with these Redditors. So, which one deserves the crown?
Stories have been edited for length and clarity.

They Locked Their Ex Out Of Their PS4 Account
From Redditor u/lizzthefirst:
Here’s some background: I was with my ex for almost four years. He was a good guy up until a year before we broke up, when he started cheating on me. When we finally broke up, I was able to get some revenge.
For Christmas one year, I got him a used PS4. We set up our accounts in such a way that mine was the “parent” account and his was the “child” so he could play my games. Another feature of this setup was that the “parent” account can lock the “child” account out of playing. He knew this when we set it up and said it didn’t bother him. When we broke up, he refused to stop playing the games I bought for me on my account, claiming he couldn’t stop.
Soon after that, I locked everything on his account. His account will automatically log out if he tries, and he can’t do anything to stop it.
Before anyone says anything, I paid for everything when it came to that console. All of his games, his membership, everything. He was unemployed for most of our relationship and never paid for his own things.
And J, if you ever read this, f you.

They Reorganized Their Ex’s DVDs And Left Rotting Fish In The House
From Redditor u/Hot_Mumma69:
Back when I was 18 years old, I was dating this guy who I thought was perfect. Oh boy, was I wrong. It turned out that he was banging my best friend (ex-friend now obviously) and gave me syphilis. Instead of yelling and crying, I decided to get petty.
List of the petty things I did:
– The ex had 300+ DVDs that had to be in alphabetical order – so I decided to put each disc in the wrong case and switched the cases around so they were no longer in order.
– I put food crumbs under the sheet on his bed – I hope you enjoyed sleeping with ants, you a**hole.
– I put a couple of prawns in the curtain rods – have fun reaching those rods, short fry, when you figure out where the smell is coming from.
– I put pig cheeks down in his car door – yeah, good luck trying to figure out where the smell is coming from.
– I put a nice piece of mullet in the air condenser – I hope you don’t mind the smell of rotting fish.
Yeah, I may have gone too far, but what I did doesn’t compare to him giving me syphilis.

They Tricked Their Ex Into Thinking They Gave Them An STI
From Redditor u/haute_cheetos:
My (now ex) BF (we’ll call him Bob) was cheating on me. Bob had a habit of digging through my stuff and reading my private journals, bank statements – just intrusive AF.
The day I found out he was cheating, I took my anger and got creative. I copied the letterhead from my healthcare provider and forged a letter from my gynecologist informing me I had genital herpes and a handful of other nasty STIs. I stuck the letter under the mattress (because I knew he snooped around there) and waited.
I’ll never forget the look on his face when he found that letter! The panic on his face when he realized that whatever diseases I had, he had given me. Ahh. So sweet. So petty.

They Covered Their Ex’s House In Glitter
From Redditor u/tallulahtallulah:
That’s literally it. I caught him cheating by looking through his “trash” (literally lol) emails and found some pretty graphic emails from the other woman. Confirmed he was with her that day through his Google Maps tracking.
So I got every bit of loose glitter I owned, and I went to his house and scattered it. In his bed, his couch, his chairs, his toilets, his clothes, and his iron flat top stove.
I know I’ll be okay, and I’m going to heal. But guess who probably won’t ever be able to fully get rid of all the glitter?

They Saw ‘Avengers: Endgame’ And Texted Their Ex Spoilers
From Redditor u/v0ness:
My best friend is going through a rough divorce. She had been with him for 20 years, married for 14, high school sweethearts, yada yada yada. He cheated last year, she forgave him, and tried to work it out. He pretended to try and then ditched her with their 2 kids.
She’s… a bit bitter. Lol. And occasionally, she will lash out and do something petty AF but funny. Like referring to him as Adolf Sh*tler in front of his employees, throwing out the mail he hasn’t had forwarded, and giving away his favorite hoodies to homeless people.
Anyway. Last night, she saw one of the first showings of Endgame and texted him spoilers without warning, including deaths.
I laughed so hard. He called me complaining about it, but admitted it was funny.
She said Star Wars is next.

They Gave Their Ex A Hickey
From Redditor u/yamslammin:
This happened years ago as a high school freshman, but I’ve always been kind of proud of how I handled this situation.
Background: I was friends with a guy in a large middle school friend group of neighborhood kids that would play manhunt and hang out often. This disbanded as everyone got older and moved, could drive, ect. I always had a crush on him, but he was a bit older and never seemed to see me that way; but we were good friends.
Fast forward to high school, and I hadn’t seen the guy in a year or two and was surprised he was in one of my classes as a freshman (he had failed that class twice) and was having a tough time. We sat together and talked, and ended up hanging out outside of school. I still liked him, but he had a GF, so I kept my feelings in. He confessed to me that they were having issues and he needed to break up with her, but it’d be super hard on both of them. I was surprised because I thought they were really solid. He always wore a bracelet with her name on it.
We continued to hang out often, and he kissed me, all while reassuring me he was going to leave her, it was just complicated, which led to making out hangouts. This happened 2-3 times before I noticed he was still wearing the bracelet with her name on it. I stopped mid-makeout and asked if they were on such bad terms, why was he still wearing that bracelet. He got annoyed and gave me a short and unconvincing answer.
It all hit me in the 16-year-old brain at once: this guy was using me to cheat and had no intentions of breaking up with this girl. He tried to go back to kissing, but I moved to his neck and just suctioned right on it. He pushed me away and exclaimed about hickeys. He immediately left, muttering about covering it with makeup.
They broke up shortly thereafter. I know his GF thought I was a terrible person for cheating with this guy, but he honestly had me convinced. I honestly feel like I did her a favor, with physical evidence of cheating right before her eyes.

They Put A Box Of Condoms In Their Ex’s Mom’s Grocery Cart
From Redditor u/Zaxxter:
In high school, I was a senior and she was a junior. Tops of our classes. You know, standard good kids, and I was like Wally Cleaver. Her family was very religious; think of the Flanderses. While her folks were wary of her dating, they loved and trusted me and invited me over to their house frequently.
It should be noted that during the time we dated, we never had sex. Her folks had “the talk” with both of us and were concerned that their baby girl would end up preggers. But I loved her enough to respect her folks’ wishes and never made her uncomfortable. Had it played out right, I could have seen us being married.
Fast forward to after my graduation. After a few months (we still lived in the same town, and she was to start at my college in the fall), she up and dumps me. Later, I heard that she’d been cheating on me, and he was going to take her to her senior prom, even though we planned to do so. She told her folks that I dumped her after finding someone else.
Several months later, I spot her and her mom shopping in the local grocery store. They don’t see me (I had a hat and grew a nice beard and kept a safe distance), and I didn’t want to get into a conversation with the mom who obviously had been told I’d done her daughter wrong.
So I waited until they left their cart unattended, and placed a box of condoms and lube in their buggy, and covered them. When they got to the checkout, and her mom started taking items out of the cart, she found them. And promptly flipped out. It was like watching the mom in Carrie, all the while the ex was, “B-b-b-b-but those aren’t mine!”
And the mom was, “How long have you been having sex? Who is it with?!” And the shoppers around them snickering as hard as I was.
Bonus: I went through my checkout fast and got to my car to watch the show continue. The mom was still fussing on the way to the car and, as they drove off, I could still see her wagging finger.

They Posted Their Ex’s Conversations On Facebook
From Redditor u/Noisy-introvert123:
So fifteen years ago, fresh out of university, I started working at a local bank. It was here that I started dating B (28M). I was 22F at the time. The thing was, back then, I was still in a religious bubble and was the no sex before marriage type of person, and this man used to constantly beg me for sex anyway, then get moody when I said no.
The constant begging became too much, so on a certain Friday, I told him to get a girl he could actually have sex with and to stop bothering me, and his response was, “Fine, but you’re probably a b*tch anyway.”
Thing is, I knew B’s plans for that particular weekend, so I wanted to do a very petty thing knowing he would have no internet access. So I logged into his Facebook with the intention to write a silly status update but before that, I went to his messages and realized that not only did he have seven GFs, but also he would brag about his sexual activities to his best friend.
I took screenshots of conversations he had with each girl, including me, then pasted them on his wall as well as the conversations he had with his friend. I also logged into his Gtalk (it was a thing back then) and did the same, screenshot and paste on his Facebook wall, then I changed the Facebook and email passwords and just sat back and waited.
Monday came, and I just watched as these girls would go into his office and then come out looking angry, whilst I just sat in my cubicle giggling. I even did the same so I wouldn’t seem suspicious. By the time I got there, B looked like so stressed. His best friend didn’t even come for the usual lunchtime visit. Funny thing is, I decided to be petty because he called me a b*tch, which wouldn’t have happened if he had never called me that name.

They Got Their Ex’s Mom On Their Side
From Redditor u/Brief-Percentage-254:
When I was 20-23, I was in my first somewhat-long-term relationship, and my first relationship in which we lived together. It was a bit rocky; we both caused a lot of problems in the relationship, but we finally broke up when I found out my boyfriend had been cheating on me regularly. He had also been lying about working an unpaid internship that would have transitioned to a job, which allowed him to spend hours going out with other women and excused his lack of income, so I was partly supporting him financially, along with his mom, who he was also lying to.
Even though my relationship with him was never stable, his mom loved me and would often openly take my side when we were fighting. She had four sons and no daughters, and she told me she considered me the daughter she never had. So when the cheating and lying were uncovered, it wasn’t hard to get her to take my side. She was the person I went crying to, and I told her that this is the sort of thing you cry about to your mom, and since I don’t have a relationship with my own mom, I was glad she was there for me to talk to.
She was, of course, furious with him for lying to us both, effectively scamming us out of our money, and for cheating on me. Even when he complained to her about everything I had done wrong in the relationship, she refused to believe him because, in her eyes, I could do no wrong. She sat him in front of a computer and made him apply for jobs in front of her, then supervised his job search process the way one might supervise a child cooking for the first time. Once he found a job, she made him pay us both back for the money we spent supporting him while he was lying to us.
After he had finished paying us back and moved out of her place, she spoke to him rarely and was very clear that she no longer trusted him. She even warned his next girlfriend that he was a cheater (and from what I’ve since heard, she was right to, as he has apparently cheated on other girlfriends since). She and I remained close until she passed away two years ago. She was one of the maybe three people I’ve ever felt I could be truly vulnerable with; she was the only person I told about a particularly difficult mental health situation I was going through, and I really did start to see her as a surrogate mother.

They Put Frogs In Their Ex’s House
From Redditor u/QueenCitten96:
The headline pretty much says it all, but I’ll add some context. When I was about 20, I was dating a guy that… wasn’t great. He was emotionally and physically abusive to me, and intentionally got me pregnant, causing me to have to terminate that pregnancy. So he put me through a LOT of unnecessary trauma.
Eventually, I found out he was cheating on me with not one, not two, not even three, but FIVE different women. I was beyond furious and knew I didn’t want to sleep with his gross friends as revenge – I had to take this a step further.
Knowing he had a huge fear of amphibians of any kind, my best friend and I went to a local park and collected some frogs. I still had a key to his apartment, so we drove over there while he was at work, released the frogs, and left. The next day, I felt bad for the frogs, so I decided to go back and get them to return them to the park. I called him to see if he was home, and unfortunately, he was. He thought I was calling to have a heart-to-heart and was pouring his heart out, stating how bad he felt, and OF COURSE I could come over. Sucker thought he was getting make-up sex. I was simply trying to collect my frog friends.
Anyways, I go over to his apartment, let him continue his little guilt-fused apology/rant, and when he finished, I calmly asked, “That’s great, but have you seen the frogs?” He got dead quiet and said, “What frogs?” And I told him, “The ones I put over here while you were at work the other day. You haven’t seen them yet??” When I tell you, I haven’t seen a grown man jump up from a bed so fast in panic mode, I had to laugh. Right as I could tell, he knew I was being serious, a frog jumped out of his closet. I said, “Oh, there’s one!”
And he screamed bloody murder, ran out of the house, and called his mom. Yelled at me that he was not coming back in until I removed the frogs. I did, but I took my time doing so. When I left, he was sitting on the bottom steps, shaking and still on the phone with his mom, wailing, “I can’t believe she would do this to me!!” I turned around and said, “I can.” And then, I left.

They Joined Forces With The Girl Their Ex Cheated With
From Redditor u/dreamcatcher128:
Long story short, I was with my ex-boyfriend for 3 years and never suspected a thing. I fell out of love and eventually broke up with him, and it was pretty amicable.
A couple of months later, a girl messaged me on Instagram asking if I dated my ex. I said yes, but we broke up recently. She lets me know she slept with him for 2 years, to my shock, and so we meet up. She shows me the texts and photos. Luckily, because I fell out of love and wasn’t upset, but she liked him a lot and felt betrayed. He lied about his name, age, job, and identity to fool her (I knew his family well and knew his real identity). We both decided to show up at his apartment and confront him. He was so shocked and tried to explain, but it was too late.
My petty revenge included creating a group chat with him, his mum, and dad, and me, called it “cheater,” and sent a paragraph explaining what he did to me right in front of him. I then paid for an anonymous text message service to his number pretending to be the NHS, and that his recent test showed he had a range of STDs. Felt pretty good.

They Played Revenge Music For Their Ex
From Redditor u/crimsondelight1:
So my best friend used to live next door to me with her now ex-partner. They threw a house party a week ago, and her ex cheated on her with her other best friend while they were in the same house. She has since moved out and left him there
So, the petty person I am, I have been playing my music, blaring with my windows open. Songs like “F*ck You” by Cee Lo Green, “F*ck You” by Lily Allen, “FU” by Miley Cyrus, “ABCDEFU” by Gayle, “Short D*ck Man” by 20 Fingers, you get the picture.

They Wrote Down Their Ex’s Supposedly Winning Lottery Numbers
From Redditor u/No_Title_300:
So my ex had a vivid dream one time. She saw herself winning the lottery, woke up, and instantly wrote down the numbers. She uses them for EVERY SINGLE DRAW and always said she will for the rest of her life or until she wins, which she is convinced will happen.
Well, she cheated on me recently, and so I broke up with her. But I know those lottery numbers after having bought her tickets on multiple occasions, so for the last 3 weeks, I have bought tickets to every draw using the same numbers, and I will for the rest of my life or until I win.
Even if she wins, she will have to share the jackpot with me!

Cut Ex’s Internet Off For The Whole Family After She Cheated
From Redditor u/EliF1324:
My ex (27f) and I (27m) were together for over a year. I moved in pretty quickly, moving into the house she rented with her two kids (5 and 8 y/o.)
6 months in, she cheated. Long story short, we stayed together. I moved out and got my own apartment. Because I already had my name set up for her internet and we were staying together, I just kept paying it. It wasn’t expensive, but $30 she and her kids used for free.
I had set up my TV in the living room along with my Xbox and iPad that I let the kids use. When I moved out, I never took back those items because the kids liked using them.
Well, 6 months after the first affair, she cheated again. This time a week after our 1 year anniversary, and days before my birthday. With the same guy. She left me on read for hours when I asked if she had spent the night with him. Finally responding by sending me a shared notes app document saying yes she did and she’s been having a great time.
I felt all those typical feelings of hurt that I had felt before. Anger, confusion, self-doubt, etc.
I didn’t respond for a few days. In one of those days, I realized the internet bill was due soon. So I pulled the app up and began poking around in the settings. I realized I could toggle the internet on/off remotely. Maybe only an hour of debating is when I decided to pull the trigger and disconnect it for them.
You might think that’s not a big deal, but I knew how reliant those devices were to getting the kids to cooperate or as a distraction/motivator when trying to get the kids to do anything really. The 8 y/o loved Minecraft and the 5 y/o loved the iPad. It was a great bargaining tool when getting them to clean or staying out of the way when cooking or cleaning. Great for times when we just needed an hour to ourselves to unwind. Or a way to bond with the kids and participate in what they were up to. These devices were a major help most days.
I knew that by cutting the wifi, the kids would start throwing a fit and causing my ex’s day to be more difficult. I didn’t know if they’d realize immediately or if they would come home after a long day, just trying to relax and get night time routines going, and then be met with unexpected silence.
That was about 9 months ago, so maybe I left some details out.
It’s not my proudest moment, but I don’t regret it.

They Ruined Their Ex’s Childhood Friendship
From Redditor u/superdarktimes2020:
I would like to start this off by saying that this isn’t something I am proud of. It was the one and only time I had ever done anything like it.
I told my partner from the beginning of the relationship that if he ever cheated on me, I would sleep with his best friend. He had mild insecurity towards his friend being into me, so I figured it was the perfect revenge, as they hung out almost every single day and had been friends since they were children.
Every time I would say that to him (he acted very shady a lot, so I was suspicious), he would get all weird. Nine months into our relationship, I found out he was cheating on me the whole time. I, of course, went through with my threat and messaged his friend asking to hang out. I slept with him that night and ruined their friendship. They haven’t spoken since, and that was 2.5 years ago.

My Ex Cheated On Me. I Told The New Girl The Truth.
From Redditor u/[deleted]:
My ex and I were together about 3 years. He decided he wanted to join the Army Reserves to have his college paid for. I waited patiently for him during boot camp and went to visit him at his graduation. His mom and sister got a little weird, but other than that, everything felt great. Then he went to his training school (this was out of state), and everything changed instantly. He got his freedom back and ultimately ended up connecting with and cheating on me with some chick in the Army. In less than a year, he left, led me on, lied, cheated, came home, moved her here to my hometown (she was from another state), and got married at the courthouse. It was traumatic as hell. She knew about me the entire time. I never said a word to her.
There was a short period when he came back home, but she didn’t move up here yet. In that time, I know of 2 women he at least kissed. He also told me at one point the new girl had bad credit, so they had to buy a shitty fixer-up house.
Long story short, the new girl’s Instagram showed up, and I messaged her. I told her about the 2 girls and everything he said about her behind her back. Same day, my ex deactivated all of his social media accounts. I hope he slept on the couch that night. She also deleted her most recent post talking about how great he is because he opens the door for her lol. It felt so incredibly good to get that out despite how petty it was. Idgaf.

They Screwed Up The Coffee Order Of The Girl Their Ex Cheated With
From Redditor u/winderbeth:
This is by far the pettiest thing I’ve ever done.
So, a little background: About 4 years ago, I had my first boyfriend, and because I was a young and dumb teenager, I didn’t want to lose him under any circumstances. One of these circumstances happened to be his “best girlfriend” repeatedly sending him nudes, him not telling her no because he “didn’t want to make it weird,” and me pretending to be fine with it. I was a dumba**, and of course, I just didn’t want to believe he was cheating on me. The relationship ended up lasting over a year and a half, and we broke up on his terms. Only after I was out did I realize how miserable I was.
Fast forward to today, and I’m completely over the situation. I have a great boyfriend, am getting good grades during my first year of college, and I work at a very popular coffee chain that rhymes with FarDucks on campus. I’m making drinks at the bar when I see her walk in. I smile, and by her smile back, I can tell that she has no memory of me at all. It’s the girl whom my ex cheated on me. She orders a caramel Frappuccino. No biggie. Part of me didn’t want to make her drink, but the other part of me realized I could get a small amount of that sweet, cold revenge with this situation.
For blended ice drinks, we have a base syrup that we add that makes it so the ice doesn’t separate from the drink. It’s thick, basically all sugar, and determines the consistency of the drink. So what did I do? I added 2 extra pumps of the base to her drink, while doing one less of the caramel syrup. Nothing that would get me in trouble, I could just say I forgot for a second, but her frappe might taste just a little bit off and too watery.
The rush of adrenaline kept me going for the rest of the night.
